<br />July 9, 2024 <br />Kittitas County Board of Commissioners <br />205 W 5th Street <br />Ellensburg, WA 98926 <br />Dear Board of County Commissioners, <br />Subject: Recommendation for Funding Proposal <br />We, the members of Kittitas County Homeless and Affordable Housing Committee are writing to formally recommend funding for Odd Fellows Lodge 20 Housing Project. After thorough consideration and evaluation, we believe that this proposal aligns with the committee’s priorities and mission and warrants financial support to achieve its goals. <br />The Lodge is requesting $338,000.00 from the Affordable Housing Funds to use as match funding for the housing project which will construct20-30 low-income housing units on 3 acres of land at 1900 Brick Road in Ellensburg. <br />Our committee has reviewed the application, proposed budget, and supporting documents for the Odd Fellows project. We have scored the application with consideration for the potential impact, feasibility, and sustainability of the project, considering the needs of our community and the available resources. We are recommending this project be funded for the following reasons: <br />The proposal submitted for this project was very well written, clear and concise, thorough, and addressed all of the required components in the grant proposal. <br />The project will add 20-30 units of affordable housing to the total affordable housing inventory in this county. Our current inventory is well behind projected affordable housing needed in this county in the next several years and needs this project. <br />The project is Phase 1 of a larger project to develop a total of 10.4 acres with up to101 units affordable housing, a child care center, and potential other small commercial retail to enhance the development. <br />The requested funding will be used to match other funding from the City of Ellensburg and the state and demonstrates Kittitas County’s commitment to this project. <br />In conclusion, we urge the Board of County Commissioners to approve the funding proposal for Odd Fellows Lodge 20 Housing Project.
