AGEI\DA DATE: <br />ACTION REQUESTED <br />KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAF'F'REPORT <br />May 7,2024 <br />Request to Approve a Resolution to Award the Contract for the <br />Bowers Field East Taxilane Pavement Rehabilitation and Apron <br />Reconfiguration and Authorize the Public Works Director to <br />execute the same. <br />BACKGROUIID: <br />INTERACTION <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />HANDLING: <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />On March 5,2024, the BOCC approved a Notice of Call for <br />Sealed Bids for the construction of the Bowers Field East <br />Taxilane Pavement Rehabilitation Project. Sealed bids were <br />opened publicly on March 28,2024, at Kittitas County Public <br />Works. There were three (3) responsive bids received. The <br />lowest responsive bid was from Central Paving, LLC in the <br />amount of $351,414.94. <br />The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reviewed bid <br />documents and responded on April 19,2024, with concurrence <br />to award. <br />Pavement rehabilitation of the east taxilane and apron area are <br />identified as a priority need in the Bowers Field Capital <br />Improvement Plan (CIP). The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law as <br />enacted in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act authorized <br />additional allocation for airport projects. Funding for pavement <br />rehabilitation work for Bowers Field project FAA/AIP No. 3-53- <br />0026-022-2023 was awarded for 90 percent of construction with <br />a l0 percent local match. A grant application has been submitted <br />to the Washington State Department of Transportation Aviation <br />Division for funding to cover 5 percent of the required match. <br />The FAA has not yet released funds for the grant. This is <br />anticipated.
