BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br /> <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: January 2, 2024 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Direct the Treasurer to transfer stale-dated County-held <br />funds into the General Fund. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: Balancing of a Treasurer’s suspense fund found several <br />older deposits that had never been claimed by a <br />department or district. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: Attempts were made to contact the depositing agencies as <br />well as again reach out to the departments or districts that <br />might have been the intended recipients. In all cases <br />where we were able to reach someone for assistance, we <br />were told that no records existed going back that far. The <br />bank also stated that the deposits were too old to find any <br />additional addenda. <br /> <br />Consultation with our DPA found that RCW 63.30.270 was <br />relevant to this situation and gives guidance that these <br />funds may be transferred to the County general fund. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Review the proposed Resolution and adopt it as written. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENT: Proposed Resolution <br /> Exhibit A - List of stale-dated deposits <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Lisa Murray, Kittitas County Treasurer’s Office
