KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />2023 AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: November 7, 2023 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Conduct a Continued Public Hearing from October 17, 2023, <br />at 2:00 pm local time, to consider Amending Kittitas County <br />Code to reflect the formation of a Public Services Department <br />BACKGROUND: The consolidation of Public Works and Community <br />Development Services presents an opportunity to improve <br />operational efficiencies. Recently, with the dissolution of the <br />Airport Department and the management being moved back <br />to Public Works has created a greater need to improve <br />operational efficiencies and streamline processes such as <br />Agenda and Study Sessions. <br />Pursuant to Board of County Commission on October 17, <br />2023, Public Works staff loaded a red -line copy of proposed <br />code changes onto the County's public website late on the <br />afternoon of October 17, 2023. <br />Staff is proposing to amend Kittitas County Code creating the <br />Public Services Department and eliminating the Public Works <br />and Community Development Services from code in a single <br />action as an out of cycle code amendment. <br />Additionally, with the amount of Kittitas County Code to be <br />amended Public Works staff suggests sending redline code <br />directly to IT for web upload and coordination. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works; Prosecuting Attorney's Office. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Conduct a Continued Public Hearing from October 17, 2023, <br />at 2:00 p.m. to consider Amending Kittitas County Code to <br />reflect the formation of a Public Services Department. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works. <br />ATTACHMENTS: Ordinance. <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark R.
