07/11/2023 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />CONF. ROOM <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />TUESDAY 1:00 P.M. JULY 11, 2023 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright; Vice-Chairman Brett <br />Wachsmith; Commissioner, Laura Osiadacz. <br /> <br />Others: Mandy Buchholz, Office Administrator; Ann and Jeff <br />Leichleiter. <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />At 1:00 p.m. Chairman Wright opened a Special Meeting to discuss <br />possible options for a Boys and Girls Club in Kittitas County. <br /> <br />Ann Leichleiter introduced herself and shared her background in <br />education for the past 30+ years and provided a handout. She <br />explained that there is crucial need for the Boy’s and Girls Club <br />throughout the County. She has been facilitating one out in Kittitas <br />over the summer. She stated as an educator she see’s so much need <br />for these types of the programs and her goal is to raise $300,000 <br />and start it in Kittitas and then continue to open them in other <br />areas of the County. She stated questioned if there was any grant <br />funding that the Board was aware of. She also shared that she is <br />working on a fund raiser and noted that for these clubs you must be <br />sponsored by another Boys in Girls Club. Commissioner Osiadacz <br />questioned what an average yearly operation for a club was and Mrs. <br />Leichleiter stated it was approximately $500,000. They teach <br />programs like STEM and Robotics she stated they have 46 kids in her <br />summer program and full day offers lunch but after school program <br />offers a snack. <br /> <br />The Board discussed using $100,000 of Admissions Tax on going <br />towards the project until they are fully operational. Chairman <br />Wright stated he will get contact information over to the Budget and <br />Finance Director Carlson. The Board thanked Ann for her work on <br />this, and stated they would be happy to do PSA or Press Release in <br />conjunction with the B&G Club announcing their support for the <br />proposed project. <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned at 1:30 p.m. <br /> <br />KITTITAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br /> <br /> <br />____ _____________
