KITTITAS COUNTY <br />AIRPORT DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA DATE: April 4th, 2023 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Amend Current Airport Land Lease <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Amend an airport land lease to correct an error on the <br />original document. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: <br />David D. Ohl <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Approve amendment to lease to allow Mr. Mark Merrill to change his lease location. <br /> <br />BRIEFING SUMMARY: <br />- As of December 21st, Kittitas County and Mr. Mark and Linda Merrill entered <br />into a land lease at the airport. <br />- Due to an administrative error, the wrong location was annotated on the existing <br />lease. <br />- The amendment proposed would change the location of the lease at the airport to <br />the spot that Mr. Merrill intended to lease in the original document. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Mr. Mark Merrill and Kittitas County entered a land lease in December of 2021. Mr. <br />Merrill intended to lease spot H-24 according to the existing airport binding site plan. <br />However, his lease assigned him to the neighboring location H-15B. Mr. Merrill would <br />like to amend his lease to assign him to his desired location on H-24. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: <br />I recommend amending the current lease to change the location from H-15B to H-24 on <br />the airfield. Mr. Merrill’s hangar plans have been approved by the FAA for spot H-24 <br />and no improvements or changes were previously made to H-15B. Amending the lease <br />will allow Mr. Merrill to build his proposed hangar on the approved spot and correct an <br />administrative error on the original lease. <br /> <br />The lot he is changing to is slightly larger. H-15B is .16 acres (6960 sq.ft), with a rent of <br />$1113.60. The new lot, H-24 is .18 acres (7480 sq. ft), with a revised rent of $1254.52. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACTS: <br /> <br />Mr. Merrill’s lease terms will change, raising his rent from $1113.60 to $1254.52. <br />
