KITTITAS COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OFFICE <br /> <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: June 21, 2022 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) to <br />approve and sign a letter of commitment to the State of <br />Washington Tourism to be included in the TREAD Map <br />application. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On May 5, 2022, TREAD gave a presentation to the Committee on their recreation <br />management app, TREAD. This app would allow more continuity between land users and <br />land managers and allow organizations to tailor messaging around recreation. TREAD <br />predicts to have over 100,000 users by September 2022. TREAD partnered with the State <br />of Washington Tourism, and they are asking counties for a $30,000 one-time <br />contribution. This contribution would give Kittitas County access to the data collected. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: <br />The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee met on June 8, 2022, and discussed the benefits of <br />funding TREAD Maps, the committee agreed that it would be a good use of Lodging Tax <br />funds and moved to have the Board of County Commissioners approve the $30,000 <br />contribution. The Prosecutor’s office reviewed and approved the letter of commitment on <br />6/10/2022, request #54312. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Request the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) to approve and sign the letter of <br />commitment to the State of Washington Tourism to be included in the TREAD Map <br />application. <br /> <br /> <br />HANDLING: <br />Send a fully executed electronic copy to the State of Washington Tourism. <br /> <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: Letter of Commitment <br /> Prosecutors Service Request <br /> Draft LTAC Meeting Minutes <br /> <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Emily Smith, Lodging Tax Advisory Committee Clerk
