KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SHERIFF'S STUDY SESSION MINUTES <br />BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM/WEBEX, 205 WEST 5TH ROOM 108 - ELLENSBURG <br />Regular Meeting <br />WEDNESDAY 8:00 AM March 2, 2022 <br />Board members present: Chairman Laura Osiadacz, Vice -Chairman Cory Wright, Commissioner Brett <br />Wachsmith <br />Others: Sheriff Clay Myers, Public Works Director Mark Cook, Airport Director Ken Grannan, Human <br />Resource Director Kristine Foreman <br />Modify hours from halftime to fulltime for Security Officer position: Sheriff Myers stated the expand in <br />position would come out of the 1/10TH fund and would need to have board approval to go to HR and Union. <br />Chairman Osiadacz responded as long as it is not hitting the General Fund and it is necessary to the court, start <br />the process. <br />Discuss vehicle parkin at t Airport: Sheriff Myers relayed the Sheriff's Office can take on the lease, and <br />whether it's possible to move on that if board confirms. Airport Director Grannan explained details of the lease <br />that would start April 1St after Public Works' lease is up. Director Cook shared the total area was a half -acre, <br />and Sheriff Myers pointed out they would not use the whole space that would be a place to put other law <br />enforcement vehicles. Sheriff Myers asked if he could be provided a draft of the lease, and Director Grannan <br />stated he would get a draft to him next week. <br />Update on Upper County SAR Project (Upper County Airport) Sheriff Myers mentioned taking possession of <br />the city shop was happening this month. Director Cook explained further information regarding the plans of an <br />architect for a 2023 build. He continued Public Works would manage for the Sheriff's Office, however the <br />architectural designs and all decisions would be made by the Sheriff. Chairman Osiadacz and Director Cook <br />discussed grant options and Director Cook said he would get started on the SOQ. <br />OTHER BUSINESS: Commissioner Wright wanted to understand further on the outreach of a possible hotel <br />repurposing with Hope Source. Sheriff Myers shared he had a conversation with Ellensburg Police Department <br />Chief Ken Wade, since Chief Wade is on the board with Hope Source. Sheriff Myers mentioned this will not be <br />a residence and instead is just a support for homelessness. Concerns were discussed regarding questions this <br />would pose before any move -ins, and how to enforce relocations since they would need a destination to go to. <br />Commissioner Wright stressed there needs to be a formal agreement with the City of Ellensburg and Hope <br />Source to use the hotel and would need agreement enforced by Ellensburg Police Department. <br />Meeting adjourned at 8:25am <br />Anita Mishina <br />KITTITAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />Laura Osiadacz, Chairman <br />
