KITTITAS COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONER’S OFFICE <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: March 15, 2022 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to approve an interlocal agreement and resolution <br />appointing Petrichor Broadband to manage design and <br />construction of new fiber optic networks under 2021 Public <br />Works Board grant award <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: In late 2021, Kittitas County was awarded $3.3 million from the <br />Public Works Board for broadband network expansion in the <br />Thorp and Edgemont areas. The county is now responsible for <br />construction of this network. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: Cory Wright, Commissioner, has coordinated with Petrichor <br />Broadband and the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office to develop and <br />prepare an interlocal agreement and resolution to have Petrichor <br />Broadband manage the design and construction of this network. <br />Petrichor is a public interlocal limited liability company formed by <br />six Washington port districts and is currently the county’s <br />designated consultant for the Community Economic Revitalization <br />Board-funded broadband study awarded in July 2021. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Approve an interlocal agreement with Petrichor Broadband to <br />design and manage fiber optic network construction in project <br />areas awarded under the 2021 Public Works Board grant. <br /> <br />HANDLING: 1 – Clerk of the Board <br />1 – Prosecuting Attorney’s Office <br /> <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: Interlocal Agreement with Petrichor Broadband <br />Resolution Authorizing the Execution of an Interlocal Agreement <br />with Petrichor Broadband <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Commissioner Cory Wright
