KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SHERIFF’S OFFICE <br /> <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: February 15, 2022 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution Authorizing the Write-off of <br />Uncollectible Debts owed to the Kittitas County Jail dating from 1/1/2015-12/31/2015. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Kittitas County Jail is generally responsible for emergency or <br />necessary health care for inmates pursuant to RCW 70.48.130(2), and collection of <br />payment from inmates for such treatment is allowed pursuant to RCW 70.48.130(5). Per <br />RCW 4.16.040(2), there is a six-year statute of limitations for actions where accounts <br />such as these are receivable. The Sheriff’s Office has recently reviewed collections <br />records obtained from our vendor, Armada Corporation. The 2015 reports revealed there <br />to be $30,644.55 in uncollectible debt which meets the statute of limitations and may be <br />written off. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: This was reviewed and approved by the Kittitas County Prosecutor’s <br />Office. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Request to Approve a Resolution Authorizing the Write-off of <br />Uncollectible Debts owed to the Kittitas County Jail dating from 1/1/2015-12/31/2015. <br /> <br />HANDLING: None. <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Superintendent Panattoni
