KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />2021 AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: November 16, 2021 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to Accept Washington <br />State Department of Ecology Flood Control Account <br />Assistance Program Agreement No. SEAFGAAC-2123- <br />KiCPWD-00016 <br />BACKGROUND: The Flood Control Zone District Annual and 6 -Year Work <br />Plans includes Capital Improvement Project No. 1: Flood <br />Hazard Risk and Repetitive Loss Program. Public Works <br />(PW) applied for Flood Control Account Assistance <br />Program planning funding to advance this project. PW <br />requested funding to conduct a flood hazard analysis and <br />engage local community members along the 11 -mile <br />Yakima River Easton Reach, an area that frequently floods. <br />Several repetitive loss areas are located within this reach: <br />Elk Meadows, Elk Meadows Park, Pine Glen, and Sun <br />Island. <br />Recently, Public Works (PW) was noticed by the <br />Washington State Department of Ecology Flood that we <br />were awarded $150,000 of competitive Flood Control <br />Account Assistance Program planning funds. There is a <br />25% match requirement for the total project cost. The <br />Flood Control Zone District 2022 budget includes the <br />$50,000 required match. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Accept the grant and authorize the Public Works Director <br />sign acceptance on the part of the Board of County <br />Commissioners. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works. <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution, Notice of grant award. <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark R.
