09/08/21 MINUTES 1 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON CONFERENCE ROOM/WEBEX SPECIAL MEETING <br /> WEDNESDAY 3:00 P.M. SEPTEMBER 8, 2021 <br />Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith and Vice-Chairman <br />Laura Osiadacz. Excused: Commissioner Cory Wright. <br /> <br />Others: Taylor Crouch, Administrative Assistant; Clay Myers, <br />Sheriff; Chris Whitsett, Inspector; Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the <br />Board; and Steve Panattoni, Jail Superintendent. SPECIAL MEETING MEETING WITH SHERIFF’S OFFICE COMMISSIONERS <br />At 3:00 p.m. Chairman Wachsmith opened a Special Meeting to discuss <br />updates from the Sheriff’s Office. <br /> <br />Jail Medical- Sheriff Meyers explained that the current jail <br />agreement is expiring at the end of September. Steve Panattoni, Jail <br />Superintendent gave a brief history of medical in the jail. He <br />explained the pros and cons of running medical plans in the jail and <br />the legal expectations of services. Mr. Panattoni said they were at <br />good point to take a new look at the medical program and move to <br />something more sustainable. They were looking at hiring an ARNP to <br />take care of the medical needs. The Board was supportive of this <br />move and requested that a formal proposal be brought forward for <br />their consideration. <br /> <br />Funding Vehicle and Body Cameras- Chris Whitsett, Inspector stated <br />there were new laws taking effect on January 1st, and as things are <br />now, the Sheriff’s Office would not be in compliance. They would <br />need to purchase the equipment soon due to shipping and training <br />times to be ready for the new year. Inspector Whitsett showed the <br />Board the package of equipment they would like to purchase from <br />Axon, which includes 40 cameras and tasers.
