KITTITAS COUNTY
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
2021 AGENDA STAFF REPORT
AGENDA DATE: April 6, 2021
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to Authorize Year -Round
Restriction of Heavy Truck Traffic as Defined in
Resolution 2018-076.
BACKGROUND: The Board of County Commissioners prohibited heavy
truck traffic on certain Upper County roads in Resolution
2018-076. The Upper County Traffic Committee is
recommending year-round prohibition beyond the current
restriction from May 15 to September 15 of every year.
The revised resolution provides for year-round restriction
recognizing the likelihood of occasional delivery to
businesses and area residents. The Board has previously
discussed this matter with Public Works and the Sheriffs
Office.
INTERACTION: Public Works and the Sheriff s Office.
RECOMMENDATION: Do not restrict heavy truck traffic year-round until the
prohibition is supported by enforcement action.
HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works.
ATTACHMENTS: Resolution.
LEAD STAFF: Mark R. Cook, Director.
