01/22/2021 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON WEBEX SPECIAL MEETING FRIDAY 9:00 A.M. JANUARY 22, 2021 <br />Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith, Vice-Chair Laura <br />Osiadacz and Commissioner Cory Wright. <br /> <br />Others: Taylor Crouch, Deputy Clerk of the Board I; Dale Walker, <br />Grant County PUD Commissioner; Judy Wilson, Grant County PUD <br />Commissioner; Larry Schaapman, Grant County PUD Commissioner; Nelson <br />Cox, Grant County PUD Commissioner; Thomas Flint, Grant County PUD <br />Commissioner; Mitch Delabarre, Grant County PUD Commissioner; Kevin <br />Nordt, Grant County PUD Commissioner; Richard Wallen, Grant County <br />PUD Commissioner; Clay Myers, Sheriff; Mark Cook, Public Works <br />Director; Neil Caulkins, Chief Civil Deputy; and 4 members of the <br />Public (via Webex). <br /> DISCUSSION VANTAGE AREA RECREATION COMMISSIONERS <br />At 9:00 a.m. Chairman Brett Wachsmith opened a Joint Special Meeting <br />with Grant County Public Utility District regarding Vantage Area <br />Recreation. <br /> <br />There was discussion on how both groups saw the purpose and the <br />future of the Vantage are recreation spots, specifically the Vantage <br />boat launch. Currently the Grant County PUD maintains the Boat <br />launch. As the PUD they are required to maintain a specific level of <br />recreation, and they are currently meeting the level required by <br />FERC. <br /> <br />There was discussion about some law enforcement issues during peak <br />use season. Clay Myers, Sheriff stated that 2020 saw more recreation <br />than previous years and that the trend most likely will not be <br />declining in future seasons. Sheriff Myers also explained some of <br />the public safety concerns around the area. <br /> <br />Larry Schaapman, Grant County PUD Commissioner stated their Board <br />was willing to work on options with Kittitas County, but there is a <br />level of compliancy that needs to be maintained. He suggested a <br />collaboration between Kittitas and Grant County. <br /> <br />Commissioner Wright stated he wanted Grant County PUD to re-look at <br />their recreation plan before the next re-assessment was due. <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned at 10:27 a.m. <br />
