KITTITAS COUNTY REGIONAL AIRPORT-BOWERS FIELD 2021 BUDGET NARRATIVE AIRPORT MISSION: To become the Central Washington Regional General Aviation Hub and create a thriving Business Park that will provide an economic engine for Kittitas County. DEPARTMENT GOALS 2021: • Install Pilot Lounge with facilities and equipment for: flight planning, flight training, meeting space, and food options to attract aviators to Bowers Field. • Host August 2021 Airport Fly-in which would be a two-day event to attract aviators from the region and the general public to Bowers Field for food, fun, and aircraft displays. • Procure equipment to maintain Airfield, Business Park, and Agricultural Areas. • Establish new operations and management procedures including: minimum standards, design standards,rules and regulations, and Strategic Plan with Airport Advisory Committee input. • Develop East Hangar area to include electrical utilities and extended hangar taxilane that will increase operations, based aircraft, and revenue with the possibility of 20 new hangars. DEPARTMENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS 2020: • Rehabilitation of the airfield segmented circle and windsock to include installing obstruction light. • Runway 11/29 Safety Area grading; installation three missing runway light fixtures; PAPI realignment, electrical connector replacement, and bulb replacements, procured bench stock of runway lighting parts for future repairs. • Updated apron lighting to LED, installation T-Hangar 360-degree LED lighting, and replaced bulbs in all T-Hangar obstruction lights. • Upgraded entry gate system from obsolete modem to cellular signal control and installed remote access control for easier operations vehicle access. • Crack sealed all asphalt Runway, Taxiways, Taxilanes, and Apron areas to include updated markings.
