KITTITAS COUNTY <br />EC STUDY SESSION MINUTES <br />BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM, 205 WEST 5TH ROOM 108 - ELLENSBURG <br />Regular Meeting <br />WEDNESDAY 10:00 AM August 12, 2020 <br />Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith (via Webex), Vice -Chairman Laura <br />Osiadacz (via Webex), Commissioner Cory Wright (via Webex) <br />Others: Kady Porterfield (Event Center Director), Lacie Dawson (Event Center Program <br />Manager) — (both via Webex) <br />1. Call to Order: Chairman Wachsmith called the meeting to order at 10:00am <br />2. Approval of Resolution to Amend Rodeo Contract: A force majeure clause was added to the <br />contract, due to the current COVID situation. <br />Chairman Wachsmith moved to approve the updated rodeo contract. Commissioner <br />Osiadacz seconded. No discussion. Motion passes 3-0. <br />3. virtual Fair Update: Per Kady, the new website has been extremely helpful with the virtual <br />fair. We have been able to update the website very quickly as new information is available. <br />Buyer registration is now available for the livestock show. Kady has been working closely <br />with the livestock sale committee, especially in regard to coordinating technology and use of <br />Showorks for the auction. <br />4. Special Projects: Per Kady, the bowling alley fence needs to be repaired. Kady requested <br />direction on which department is responsible for the upkeep of the area. Per discussion, <br />Kady will work with Patti in Maintenance and KVEC will take the lead on repairs and <br />upkeep of the area. <br />Kady is working on getting estimates to fence in the remainder of the fairgrounds. There has <br />been difficulty in getting fence contractors to return calls.The main area to be fenced would <br />be around the Armory and city park. <br />Barn cleaning and painting is coming along. The goal is to complete the draft barn first as <br />the CWU Equestrianne team will be moving in over Labor Day Weekend. <br />Inmates will not be available until at least September, possibly longer. With the lack of <br />assistance, projects are coming along but at a bit slower pace. <br />5. KVEC County Rental Policy and Rates Discussion: Discussion on the best way to charge other <br />departments for use.
