4/16/2018 MINUTES 1
COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM
REGULAR MEETING

MONDAY 9:50 A.M. APRIL 16, 2018

Board members present: Chairman Laura Osiadacz; Vice-Chairman Obie
O’Brien & Commissioner Paul Jewell.

Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Patti Johnson,
Solid Waste/Maintenance Director/Project Manager & Tim Egan,
Assistant Maintenance Director.

REGULAR MEETING DEPARTMENT HEAD MAINTENANCE

Tim Egan, Assistant Maintenance Director requested the Boards
direction on the lock system. He stated there is some confusion on
who the program belongs to at the County level and who oversees it.
Commissioner Jewell stated he has Staff working to set up a meeting
with the key players in the topic to discuss and make a
recommendation to the Board. He asked that they hold off until the
meeting can take place. He stated that at the security retreat there
was discussion about key fobs and that being a great option in the
event of an emergency. He explained that the way the lock system is
currently, Staff has to open the door to lock it and in an emergency
that is not the safest option whereas the option to lock the door
from a desk would be much safer and the cost is minimal
(approximately $69.00). Commissioner O’Brien moved to authorize Mr.
Egan to purchase the key fobs for each County Department as
discussed. Commissioner Jewell seconded. Motion carried 3-0.

Mr. Egan stated that Misdemeanant Probation’s security door
modifications could cost a minimum of $3,000.00 and discussed why
the modifications were needed as well as discussed with the Board
possible other options. The Board directed Mr. Egan to get a full
estimate and report back to the Board.

Meeting adjourned at 10:00 a.m.

KITTITAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
DEPUTY CLERK OF THE BOARD KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON

Mandy Buchholz Laura Osiadacz, Chairman
