10/08/2018 MINUTES 1
COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM
REGULAR MEETING

MONDAY 9:40 A.M. OCTOBER 8, 2018

Board members present: Chairman Laura Osiadacz; Vice-Chairman Obie
O’Brien & Commissioner Cory Wright.

Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Lisa Young, HR
Director/Interim KVEC Director and one member of the public.

REGULAR MEETING DEPARTMENT HEAD HUMAN RESOURCES

Lisa Young, HR Director/Interim KVEC Director questioned if the
Board was interested in renting Frontier Village. She stated there
is no current established rate for renting it so if the Board wanted
to go that route they would need to hold a Public Hearing and adopt
rates. She stated that the Fair Board has weighed in and are not
supportive of the request. She stated the Fair Board feels it’s not
up for the wear-and-tear for year round rental use.

The Board stated they agreed and supported the Fair Boards position
on the issue. They would not like to pursue a rental option for
Frontier Village.

Ms. Young also requested the Board’s direction on whether or not
they would like her to look at adding additional haul-in pass times
for Bloom Pavilion. She stated that Tuesdays and Thursdays are the
standard days. She reminded the Board about the pending closure from
November – February and also reminded them of the availability to
work up the arena between uses and adding that onto Maintenance
Staff’s busy schedule.

The Board asked Ms. Young to look at the calendar and see if some
additional days could be added. They stated they would like to see
an update that shows a more realistic time frame for the Bloom
Pavilion project.

Commissioner Wright stated he would like to see it set so
Maintenance has set times for arena work up. He stated that they
should probably look at refunding all haul in passes if they are
going to close Bloom during prime haul in time for the project to be
completed.

Meeting adjourned at 9:50 a.m.

KITTITAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
