01/30/2017 MINUTES 1 COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM REGULAR MEETING MONDAY 9:50 A.M. JANUARY 30, 2017 Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell & Vice-Chairman Laura Osiadacz and Commissioner Obie O’Brien. Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board; Jim Goeben, IT Director; Andrew Drain, Application Development Manager; Jason Eklund, GIS Coordinator. REGULAR MEETING DEPARTMENT HEAD INFO. TECH Paul Jewell, Chairman explained that he asked Jim to request the meeting with the Board. He explained that it is regarding a request for consideration of a project that the Public Lands Advisory Committee (PLAC) who would like to pursue with the County’s support. Chairman Jewell explained that the PLAC would like the assistance of the County GIS Staff to develop an App for smartphones that would be an all-inclusive map that recreationist could download to use throughout the year that would show the trails, hikes etc., that can be used during different seasons. He stated that he thought it would be a few hours a month and the data accumulation will take the most time. He requested the Board allow funds to be used to develop the app and the County could look into possibly charging for the app pending the feedback received from the County Prosecutor. Commissioner O’Brien stated he thought it was a great idea but didn’t want it to consume a lot of their time. He felt that Laserfiche is their current priority. Commissioner Osiadacz and Commissioner O’Brien expressed their support moving forward, noting that they would like it to remain under 10 hours a month to work on the project.
