01/09/2017 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />COMMISSIONERS AUDITORIUM <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />MONDAY 3:00 P.M. JANUARY 9, 2017 <br /> <br />Board members present: Vice-Chairman Laura Osiadacz & Commissioner <br />Obie O’Brien. Excused: Chairman Paul Jewell. <br /> <br />Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board; Robin Read, <br />Public Health Administrator; Mike Luvera, Kittitas County Law & <br />Justice Council. <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING MH/CD PRESENTATION FROM KCLJC COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />At 3:05 p.m. Vice-Chairman Laura Osiadacz opened a Special Meeting <br />to receive a presentation from the Kittitas County Law & Justice <br />Council regarding Chemical Dependency and Mental Health. <br /> <br />Mike Luvera, Kittitas County Law & Justice Council presented the <br />Board with a Power Point Presentation about Chemical Dependency and <br />Mental Health and the 1/10th of one percent tax that the County could <br />put out for a vote by the citizens of Kittitas County. He reviewed <br />RCW 82.14.460-sales and use tax for chemical dependency or mental <br />health treatment services of therapeutic courts. He reviewed where <br />Kittitas County is at currently and what has been accomplished. He <br />questioned the Board to see where they were at with regard to their <br />support in seeking the 1/10th of one percent sales tax for mental <br />health and chemical dependency treatment services of therapeutic <br />courts. <br /> <br />Commissioner O’Brien indicated that the BoCC would need to receive a <br />request from the Law & Justice Council asking the BoCC to begin the <br />process for placing the tax on a ballot. Commissioner Osiadacz <br />encouraged the Law & Justice Council to bring forward a plan.
