2016-11-29 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />COMMISSIONER’S CONFERENCE ROOM <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />TUESDAY 10:00 A.M. NOVEMBER 29, 2016 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Obie O’Brien; Vice-Chairman Paul <br />Jewell and Commissioner Laura Osiadacz. <br /> <br />Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board; Jerry Pettit, <br />Auditor & Kittitas County Parks and Recreation Dist. #1: Gabe Ergler <br />& Van Peterson and possible new Commissioner Candidate Craig Maybee. <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING KC PARKS & RECREATION DIST. #1 COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />At 10:00 a.m. Chairman O’Brien opened a Special Meeting to receive <br />an update from the Kittitas County Parks and Recreation Dist. #1 <br />(KCPRD). <br /> <br />Gabe Ergler, Kittitas County Parks and Recreation Dist., <br />Commissioner provided an Agenda outlining talking points for the <br />meeting. He thanked the Board for the letter of support they did <br />over the summer and expressed what a boost of confidence it gave the <br />KCPRD. He provided status updates and indicated that the support is <br />growing for the KCPRD and they continue to build relationships. He <br />stated that they have a list of approximately 15 groups including <br />the County Commissioners. He shared that they have an 11 member <br />Advisory Committee formed as well and one of the tasks they are <br />working on is a mission statement, and long term vision. It was <br />determined that Commissioner Osiadacz would participate as a member <br />on the Advisory Committee. He expressed his excitement over the <br />fact that before the year is up they will have a fully functioning <br />Board of Commissioners. Mr. Ergler provided a list of projects they <br />are involved with. He stated that they were awarded a grant recently <br />and the funds they received from the County LTAC were used as a <br />match to the grant they were awarded. <br /> <br />There was discussion & brainstorming on ways to make the KCPRD <br />financially solvent. Mr. Ergler expressed his desire to get the past <br />elections debt settled with the County which is approximately <br />$12,500.00. He stated that they would like to work with the County <br />on future taxing options if the County was willing, that would <br />benefit the KCPRD and the County. <br /> <br /> <br />There was discussion on the Counties recreation plan. Mr. Ergler <br />asked if the BoCC would “appoint” a point of contact for the KCPRD. <br />The Board felt Commissioner Osiadacz would be the best fit. They
