2016-03-25 MINUTES 1
COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONER’S AUDITORIUM
SPECIAL MEETING

FRIDAY 11:00 A.M. MARCH 25, 2016

Board members present: Chairman Obie O’Brien; Vice-Chairman Paul
Jewell and Commissioner Gary Berndt.

Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board; Julie Kjorsvik,
Clerk of the Board.

SPECIAL MEETING BOCC OFFICE UPDATES COMMISSIONERS

At 11:00 a.m. Chairman O’Brien opened a Special Meeting to discuss
with BoCC Staff recent updates and changes to the office.

Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board explained that the new Records
Clerk hire would be ending her position with the Commissioners. She
explained that the Auditor’s Office hired her and she accepted due
to needing benefits. She wanted the Board to help her brainstorm
possible solutions so that we were not continually hiring and losing
this position. She stated that she feels like it will continue
because of the need for benefits and it’s a very low paying
position. She stated that the position is not receiving qualified
applicants and doesn’t know what to do.

The Board and Ms. Kjorsvik did some brainstorming of possible
solutions.

She was directed to look into the budget impacts if they were to
pursue any discussed options and report back to the Board with a
proposal. They stressed that Ms. Kjorsvik needs to keep in mind the
importance of the business needs and keep personal feelings out of
decisions.

OTHER BUSINESS-

Commissioner Berndt gave a brief update on the Gran Fondo Special
Event Application status.

Meeting adjourned at 11:25 a.m.

KITTITAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
DEPUTY CLERK OF THE BOARD KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
