04/29/2019 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />MONDAY 11:00 A.M. APRIL 29, 2019 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright; Vice-Chairman Brett <br />Wachsmith and Commissioner Laura Osiadacz. <br /> <br />Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board and Mike Livingston, <br />Southcentral Regional Director for the Washington Department Fish & <br />Wildlife. <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING WDFW UPDATE COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />Mr. Livingston provided a handout entitled “Wolves in Washington”. <br />It provided information the status of wolves and upcoming WDFW <br />actions. He reviewed the wolf packs; pack territories; the minimum <br />known number of wolves in Washington State; federal classification <br />and listing status of wolves. They hoped to be able to provide <br />accurate information to the public in addition to all of the <br />information that’s available on their website. On May 1st they will <br />begin a feasibility study to move wolves within the State in hopes <br />to excel recovery by end of the year. They will be holding 14 <br />public scoping meetings within the State and the one in Selah will <br />be held on June 6th. The post-delisting Management Plan is scheduled <br />to begin July 1, 2019 and should be prepared for the State delisting <br />by October 31, 2021. Mr. Livingston said they could provide more <br />technical presentations if the Board would like in the future and to <br />just let him know if it’s something they’d like to do. <br /> <br />The Board thanked Mr. Livingston for his informative overview about <br />the wolves in Washington. <br /> <br />OTHER BUSINESS: Mr. Dave Chase expressed concerns about no public <br />restrooms being available at the Permit Center. He said he’s been <br />conducting business there for over five years, and if someone needs <br />to use the restroom the employees direct the public to walk across <br />the street to Safeway and use their bathrooms.
