05/07/2019 MINUTES 1
COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM
SPECIAL MEETING

TUESDAY 1:30 P.M. MAY 7, 2019

Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright; Vice-Chairman Brett
Wachsmith and Commissioner Laura Osiadacz.

Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Patti Johnson,
Solid Waste Director/Project Manager and Tim Egan, Facilities
Maintenance Director.

SPECIAL MEETING KVEC ASPHALT PROJECT COMMISSIONERS

At 1:30 p.m. Chairman Wright opened a Special Meeting with Patti
Johnson, Solid Waste Director/Project Manager and Tim Egan,
Facilities Maintenance Director to provide direction and/or approval
of repairs and maintenance for the asphalt paving project around the
Event Center grounds.

There was discussion on the Bid amount of $205,770.00; what was
budgeted ($100,000.00); what is available, and what is needed
$105,770.00. The Board determined they would put towards the project
the $60,000.00 that was budgeted for the bowling alley so there
would be approximately $46,000.00 dollars still needed. Commissioner
Wachsmith said he would talk to Kady Porterfield, Event Center
Director to see if they had any funds to put towards the project or
if it could come from the General Fund.

Ms. Johnson questioned who was supposed to be in charge of this and
preparing the Professional Services Agreement, etc.

The Board stated they would like Ms. Johnson to mentor Mr. Egan
through the process so he can be the lead on future maintenance and
repair projects. Ms. Johnson stated she would, but reminded the
Board that in the future if she is to be the lead on a project she
would like to see it all the way through from start to finish so she
can make sure the process is followed and knows exactly what’s going
on. She stated that stepping in the middle is a bit confusing and
can get messy.

The Board determined that the large asphalt project will wait until
the fall and Ms. Johnson will begin the bid process shortly.

The meeting was adjourned 1:46 p.m.

KITTITAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
