2019-09-18 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON COMMISSIONER’S CONFERENCE ROOM SPECIAL MEETING WEDNESDAY 10:00 A.M. SEPTEMBER 18, 2019 <br />Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright; Vice-Chairman Brett <br />Wachsmith and Commissioner Laura Osiadacz. <br /> <br />Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Kady Porterfield, Event <br />Center Director; Tim Egan, Maintenance Director; Lisa Young, Human <br />Resource Director; Lacie Dawson, Program Manager; Heather Harrell, <br />Fair Board member and 1 member of the public. <br /> SPECIAL MEETING MAINTENANCE/EVENT CENTER STRUCTURE COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />At 10:00 a.m. Chairman Wright opened a Special Meeting to consider <br />the structure of the Event Center and Maintenance Department. <br /> <br />Chairman Wright gave a recap of previous discussions of separating <br />out Maintenance and the Event Center. Tim Egan, Maintenance Director <br />and Kady Porterfield, Event Center Director felt a clean break would <br />be best for both departments moving forward and to assist with <br />streamlining. <br /> <br />The Board agreed to separate the two departments noting the two <br />positions currently held by Tim Oversby (Maintenance Tech. 1) and <br />Daniel Eddings would be managed by Kady Porterfield at the Event <br />Center. Lisa Young indicated she would reach out to the Unions and <br />let them know about the changes in management. Any of the large <br />projects would need to go through Patti Johnson, Solid Waste <br />Director/Project Manager. The Board agreed how they do not want to <br />see a decline in the quality of product at the Event Center and the <br />public should not see any differences with the split of departments. <br />The transition would become effective next Monday. <br /> <br />Heather Harrell, Fair Board member said her only concern was the <br />upkeep on the Event Center as it’s significantly improved over the <br />past two years and did not want to see it decline. <br /> <br />Mr. Egan said he would like to have the one-ton dump truck <br />transferred to the Maintenance Department. Mr. Egan and Ms. <br />Porterfield were instructed to get together and go over routine <br />lists. <br /> <br />The Board instructed Staff to schedule a follow up meeting in a <br />month to see how things are going. Lisa Young will send out an <br />email and include the Commissioners disseminating information about <br />the changes.
