03/23/2020 MINUTES 1 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM <br />REGULAR MEETING <br /> <br />MONDAY 9:50 A.M. MARCH 23, 2020 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith; Vice-Chairman <br />Laura Osiadacz & Commissioner Cory Wright. <br /> <br />Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Julie <br />Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Patti Johnson, Solid Waste <br />Director/Project Manager/Interim Maintenance Director. <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING DEPARTMENT HEAD SOLID WASTE <br /> <br />Patti Johnson, Solid Waste Director/Project Manager/Interim <br />Maintenance Director stated that she had received a request from the <br />owners of the First and Last Chance (F&L) Tavern asking if the <br />County would allow them to not pay rent due to COVID-19 and the <br />closure of their tavern. She discussed with the Board potential <br />other lessee’s that might come forward with the same issue. <br /> <br />The Board directed Ms. Johnson to work with legal. <br /> <br />Commissioner Osiadacz moved to amend the Contract with the F&L <br />Tavern allowing for this on this one-time exception. <br /> <br />Ms. Johnson stated that they had also received a request from a few <br />local attorneys that were previously housed out of the Kelley Realty <br />but as of April they have to be out. She stated that the Attorneys <br />in town were Swartz, Herion, and McBride who were seeking office <br />space at the Morris Sorenson Building. She stated that they need to <br />be close to the Courthouse and are rarely in their offices and when <br />they are its during normal business hours and by appointment. She <br />stated that the three of them had looked around at other options in <br />town and couldn’t find anything that would work and be in close <br />proximity to the Courthouse. She stated that she is working with <br />Judy Pless, Budget and Finance Director to asses the rent rate to <br />see that its competitive. <br /> <br />The Board expressed their support noting that they are charged rent <br />at fair market value rent. <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned at 9:50 a.m. <br /> <br />KITTITAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
