<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2019-m
<br />ADOPTING THE 2019 KITTITAS COUNTY HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN AS
<br />APPROVED BY THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY
<br />WHEREAS: The Federal Disaster Mitigation Act (DMA) of2000 (Public Law 106-390)
<br />requires state and local governments to develop hazard mitigation plans as a
<br />condition for federal disaster grant assistance; and
<br />WHEREAS: Kittitas County completed a Hazard Mitigation Plan in May 2012 and this plan
<br />was adopted by the Board of County Commissioners on May 15, 2012 under
<br />Resolution No. 2012-064; and
<br />WHEREAS: The Department of Public Works has spent nearly two years updating the 2012
<br />plan and was recently noticed of updated plan approval by the Federal Emergency
<br />Management Agency (FEMA); and
<br />WHEREAS: Adoption of the Hazard Mitigation Plan will enable all planning partners to
<br />continue using federal grant funding to reduce risks through mitigation, and
<br />WHEREAS: Adoption of the Hazard Mitigation Plan meets the Floodplain Management
<br />Planning requirements of FEMA's Community Rating System (CRS),
<br />allowing Kittitas County to continue participation in the CRS and enhance their
<br />CRS classification in the future .
<br />WHEREAS: FEMA requires Board of County Commission adoption as part of the final plan
<br />approval process;
<br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, in the
<br />best interest of the public, does hereby adopt the "2019 Kittitas County Hazard Mitigation Plan".
