KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: June 19, 2018 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve the Resolution Authorizing the Chair's signature <br />on the Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus for the <br />2018 Kittitas County Safety Improvements Project <br />BACKGROUND: The 2018 Kittitas County Safety Improvements Project will <br />provide for safety improvements on several different road <br />segments to lessen the severity of run -off -the -road <br />accidents by installing guardrail where necessary to protect <br />roadside hazards. <br />Public Works successfully received Surface Transportation <br />Block Grant federal funds in the amount of $203,275 with a <br />13.5% local match requirement. <br />This project will be tied with the Roadside Hazard Safety <br />Improvements project and the two projects will be <br />advertised for construction as a single contract. The <br />roadway segments addressed by this project were identified <br />outside of the Kittitas County 2017 Safety Plan as <br />additional areas where safety improvements were needed. <br />Public Works is preparing to advertise the project for <br />construction in the fall of 2018 and is requesting the release <br />of the Federal Construction Funds. This requires the Local <br />Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus to be signed and <br />approved by the Chair of the BOCC. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Motion to approve the Resolution Authorizing the Chair's <br />signature on the Local Agency Federal Aid Project <br />Prospectus for the 2018 Kittitas County Safety <br />Improvements Project <br />HANDLING: Return one (1) original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution <br />LEAD STAFF: Sara Folk, Engineering Services Manager <br />
