April is Child Abuse Prevention Month <br />Whereas, children are vital to our county's future success, prosperity and quality of life <br />and are our most vulnerable assets; <br />Whereas, all children deserve to have safe, stable, nurturing homes and communities <br />to foster their healthy growth and development; <br />Whereas, child abuse and neglect affects both the current and future quality of life of <br />a community; <br />Whereas, communities help ensure that all children grow to their full potential by <br />providing parents with social support, knowledge of parenting and child development, <br />and concrete resources to help them nurture their children; <br />Whereas, effective child abuse prevention strategies succeed because of partnerships <br />among citizens, human service agencies, schools, faith communities, health care <br />providers, civic organizations, law enforcement agencies and the business community; <br />NOW, therefore, I do hereby proclaim APRIL as CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION <br />MONTH and call upon all citizens, community agencies, faith groups, medical facilities, <br />elected leaders and businesses in the County of Kittitas to partiCipate in efforts to <br />support families, thereby preventing child abuse and strengthening the communities in <br />which we live. <br />Signed this 5 -f-'Y, day of ~ri.l 12016 <br />County commissioner : <br />~)~ ~~~-=---___ -'t;\J+-I, a..C.O -VJt
