KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SHERIFF’S OFFICE <br /> <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: May 15, 2018 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Acknowledge the Recreational Boating Safety <br />Federal Financial Assistance Grant. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office has worked with the Washington <br />State Parks and Recreation Commission in years past. The Boating Safety Program funds <br />are available to assist the Sheriff’s Office with local marine law enforcement efforts for <br />one year from the date of the grantor’s signature. The funds are specifically for reducing <br />boating-related loss of life, personal injury, and property damage. This money is federal <br />in origin and totals $15,009.71. <br /> <br />The required matching amount for this grant is $9,576.15, per State Parks. This <br />requirement will be accomplished with salaries and benefits for marine patrol deputies <br />working on regular time shifts. This is funded through vessel registration fees. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: The Kittitas County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has reviewed and <br />approved this grant. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Request to Approve the Recreational Boating Safety Federal <br />Financial Assistance Grant. <br /> <br />HANDLING: Return one set of originals to KCSO which we will mail to the grantor for <br />their records, per their request. <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Clay Myers
