BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2018- <br />A Resolution Authorizing Application for Reimbursement from State Funds <br />Allocated to Local Law Enforcement for the Investigation of Denied Firearms <br />Transactions <br />WHEREAS, the Washington State Legislature enacted SHB 1501, effective July 23, 2017, <br />which provides funding to local law enforcement agencies through WASPC (the Washington <br />Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs) to investigate denied firearms transactions; and <br />WHEREAS, the intent of the Bill is to protect law enforcement and the public from persons <br />who illegally attempt to obtain firearms, and <br />WHEREAS, the funds awarded are designed to support the actual cost of each <br />investigation into a denied firearms transaction up to $500; and <br />WHEREAS, the grant cycle began with the allotment of funds on December 5, 2017 and <br />ends June 30, 2018; and <br />WHEREAS, the funding supports the efforts of the Sheriff's Office to enforce the legal <br />requirements of firearms transactions and thus improve the community's safety, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND IT IS HEREBY ORDERED, that the Kittitas <br />County Sheriff is authorized to apply for such reimbursement funding from the Washington <br />Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs as may be justified and available. <br />ADOPTED this day of 2018. <br />ATTEST: <br />CLERK OF THE BOARD <br />Julie A.
