KITTITAS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: February 6, 2018 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Set a Public Hearing to Consider Amending <br />Rental Rates at the Kittitas Valley Event Center and to <br />consider setting an Internal Rental Policy. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: Throughout 2017 Event Center staff worked with <br />Commissioners to create an internal rental policy that reflected <br />free and reduced use of the facility by County and County- <br />related events. This policy and associated resolution defines that <br />in a clear and understandable way such that County staff can <br />know what events are free and what are not, and so that Event <br />Center scheduling and contracting can occur without confusion. <br />The policy and resolution were drafted by a County Deputy <br />Prosecuting Attorney. <br /> <br />The 2018 Proposed Rental Rates reflect a significant amount of <br />effort, a study in cost comparisons of other similar facilities, and <br />several meetings with the Commissioners to set appropriate <br />rental rates that, in general, reflect a 5% increase. Some items <br />were removed due to not being used or not making sense, and <br />other new amenities and packages were added. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: A Public Hearing must be held to consider the Proposed Rental <br />Rates and the Internal Rental Policy. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Set a Public Hearing to consider Amending Rental Rates at the <br />Kittitas Valley Event Center and to consider setting an Internal <br />Rental Policy to be held on Tuesday February 20th, 2018 at 2:00 <br />p.m. in the Commissioners Auditorium, 205 West 5th, <br />Ellensburg. <br /> <br />HANDLING: 1 – Clerk of the Board <br /> <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: Notice of Public Hearing <br /> <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board <br /> <br />
