KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: October 6, 2009 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve and sign the archaeology services agreement for Nelson <br />Siding Road safety enhancement project. <br />BACKGROUND: The County Road Administration Board (CRAB) provides state <br />funding for road improvements projects on a bi-annual basis. The <br />2009-2011 project applications were awarded by the County Road <br />Administration Board in April 2009. <br />Public Works submitted grant proposals for safety enhancements <br />on Nelson Siding Road. The project was awarded $3,053,500. <br />United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) required an <br />archaeological study of the project be performed. Kittitas County <br />Public Works (KCPW) contacted Central Washington University <br />to perform the study and monitor construction as needed. CWU <br />signed two copies of the agreement and returned them to KCPW <br />for Commissioners' approval. The documents were reviewed by <br />the Prosecutor's office. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works and Central Washington University <br />RECOMMENDATION: Board of County Commissioners to approve the archaeology <br />contract for Nelson Siding Road. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Rural Arterial Program Project Agreement for Construction <br />Proposal copies and resolution ratifying Chair signature. <br />LEAD STAFF: Douglas D'Hondt <br />County Engineer <br />
