KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: August 15, 2017 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve the Resolution to Award the Taneum <br />Road Bridge Replacement and Washout Repair <br />Project. <br />BACKGROUND: The East Taneum Road and Thorp Hwy <br />intersection has been restricted in width by <br />concrete traffic barrier due to the failure of the <br />existing bridge. . <br />West Taneum Road at MP 3.95 has washed out <br />and is restricted to one lane by concrete traffic <br />barrier. <br />The Department of Public Works solicited bids <br />for the Taneum Road Bridge Replacement and <br />Washout Repair contract in accordance with <br />RCW 36.77.020 Contract Procedures. Sealed <br />Bids were opened on August 9, 2017 at 10am. <br />Six (6) bids were received for the prescribed <br />work. The lowest responsive bid was Razz <br />Construction, Inc., in the amount of $755,461.75 <br />approximately 8% under the Engineer's <br />Estimate of $818,643.00. <br />The contract plans, specifications, and <br />engineers estimate were prepared by Sargent <br />Engineers for the replacement bridge and by <br />County staff for the washout repair. <br />This project will install a new structure <br />abutting an existing structure in the center of <br />the intersection of Taneum Road and Thorp <br />Hwy. Additionally wood studded rock <br />revetment and hydraulic barbs will be utilized <br />
