Kittitas County <br />Board of County Commissioners <br /> <br />Agenda Staff Report <br /> <br /> <br />Agenda Date: January 16, 2018 <br /> <br />Action Requested: <br />A Resolution correcting the levying certification for the General Fund for <br />municipal purposes of Kittitas County, Washington for the year 2018 <br />according to the assessed valuation as determined in the year 2017. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Background: <br /> Resolution 2017-189 needs to be corrected due to the incorrect <br />amount listed for the Community Services property tax for taxes to be <br />collected in 2018. <br /> <br />The levy rate for the Community Services portion of the General Fund <br />levy, as prescribed by RCW 71.20.110 and RCW 84.55, needs to be <br />calculated based upon a flat levy of .025 per thousand dollars assessed <br />value or the levy amount may be increased or reduced in the same <br />proportion as compared to the prior year’s certified county general levy. <br /> <br />The County Assessor’s calculation shows the Community Services levy <br />for collection in 2018 should be $156,750; the levy was approved at <br />$155,000 for a difference of $1,750.
