"Carpenter Memorial Library" <br />WHEREAS, on February 23, 1914 the Cle Elum City Council approved establishing the Cle Elum Public <br />Library and then approved by Mayor W. F. Lewis on February 24, 1914; and <br />WHEREAS, the Cle Elum Public Library has recognized the year 201.4 as the year of the institutions <br />one-hundredth anniversary; and <br />WHEREAS, a basic foundation of local communities has been the gathering place known as a library <br />since the Cle Elum community was first settled; and <br />WHEREAS, the Cle Elum Public Library was relocated in a newly constructed building through a <br />funding bequeath from. Margaret Carpenter in 1975; and <br />WHEREAS, the Cle Elum Public Library was renamed the Carpenter Memorial Library in recognition of <br />the Carpenter Family's bequest; and <br />WHEREAS, the Carpenter Memorial Library has expanded over the years to meet the increasingly <br />diverse cultural and educational needs of the community; and. <br />WHEREAS, the Carpenter Memorial Library currently serves the citizens of Cle Elum and the <br />surrounding rural residents of Kittitas County; and <br />WHEREAS, the Carpenter Memorial Library adds value to nearly every sector of the economy of <br />Kittitas County through the cultural richness in place that newcomers appreciate; and <br />WHEREAS, the children of the community benefit through the use of the library computers, the <br />preschool story hour and the summer reading program; and <br />WHEREAS, the Carpenter Memorial Library will continue to adapt in order to meet the needs of the <br />community through the next hundred years, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, we, the Commissioners of Kittitas County, do hereby wish the Carpenter <br />
