COMMUNITY SERVICES DIRECTOR CHAD BALA requested that the Board
consider a Resolution extending the six-month emergency moratorium
on data centers, originally imposed on August 15, 2026, for an
additional six months. DIRECTOR BALA stated that Community
Development Services staff continue to expand their knowledge of
data centers by attending conferences and training opportunities and
visiting comparable counties with existing data center developments.
He explained that the extension would provide staff with additional
time to thoroughly evaluate the issue and develop recommendations
that serve the best interests of the County and all affected
parties.
THOSE REQUESTING TO TESTIFY: COMMUNITY MEMBER MILT JOHNSON testified that he has no preference
either way, but he hopes the County will really investigate the pros
and cons of Data Centers. What can they bring to the County and what
that impact might be. He also encouraged CDS Staff to research what
some of the other Counties have done and what challenges they have
faced.
THERE BEING NO OTHERS REQUESTING TO TESTIFY THE PUBLIC COMMENT WAS CLOSED.
