Basis for Project: Yakima River Corridor Plan <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br />The failing Hansen Pit Levee and private berm located on Flood Control Zone District acquired property will <br />be replaced by setback flood protection (berms and Stone Road elevation). Levee removal restores ecological <br />functions to the purchased properties, will reduce flood risks off -site and will reduce long-term District opera- <br />tion and maintenance costs associated with the unsustainable and ineffective levee and berm.
