BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2026 -_____ <br /> <br />AUTHORIZING THE CHAIR’S SIGNATURE ON THE FEDERAL CAPITAL CONTRACT <br />WITH THE WASHINGTON STATE BROADBAND OFFICE FOR BROADBAND EXPANSION <br />IN THE COUNTY AND TO ACCEPT FEDERAL AND STATE FUNDING FOR THE PROJECT. <br /> <br />WHEREAS: Kittitas County adopted Resolution 2023-072 establishing policy standards for broadband <br />infrastructure expansion under the authority of Kittitas County; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS: Federal Funding for broadband expansion has been made available by the National <br />Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) Broadband Equity Access <br />and Deployment (BEAD) Program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS: Resolution 2025-133 authorized the submittal of applications for seven project areas in <br />Kittitas County to the Washington State Broadband Office (WSBO) for round three of <br />the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment Program (BEAD); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS: WSBO has noticed Kittitas County of award for seven project areas in the County, <br />representing nearly $33 million dollars in investment to expand Broadband; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS: A Federal Capital Contract has been developed by WSBO to award funding to the <br />County and for development of Broadband services. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, in the best interest <br />of the public, does hereby authorize the Chair’s signature on the Federal Capital Contract <br />with the Washington State Broadband Office for Broadband Expansion in the County and <br />accepting Federal and State funding for the BEAD broadband expansion project. <br /> <br />DATED this 15th day of September 2026, at Ellensburg, Washington. <br /> <br /> BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br /> <br /> <br /> ________________________________ <br /> Brett Wachsmith, Chairman <br />Attest: <br /> <br />☐ Clerk of the Board- Julie Kjorsvik ________________________________ <br />Laura Osiadacz, Vice-Chairman <br />☐ Deputy Clerk of the Board- Mandy Buchholz <br /> _______________________________ ________________________________ <br /> Jeff Leichleiter, Commissioner <br /> <br /> <br />
