KITTITAS COUNTY <br /> COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SERVICES <br /> 2026 STUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT <br /> STUDY SESSION DATE: August 20, 2026 <br /> TOPIC: I-90 Snoqualmie Pass East—Public Safety/Wildlife <br /> Closure Comment Period(Project No 349472). <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: Direction <br /> BACKGROUND: CDS was made aware of a NEPA comment period <br /> specifically for the closure of 4,888 acres along I-90 which <br /> is a part of the I-90 Wildlife Crossing and located within <br /> the Cascade Mountains migration corridor. The comment <br /> period ends August 31, 2026. The Forest Service is asking <br /> for comments on the proposed draft EA & FONSI. <br /> The Public Lands Advisory Committee(PLAC)has made a <br /> motion and recommendation for the BOCC to consider <br /> providing comments to the NEPA comment period for <br /> Project Number 349472, for the staff planner at CDS to <br /> draft a comment letter and to put the letter in front of the <br /> BOCC for review as a potential comment letter.
