<br />Page 1 of 2 <br />Information Technology “Study Session Staff Report”, 6/22/2026 <br />KITTITAS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />STAFF REPORT FOR <br />STUDY SESSION <br /> <br />Information Technology <br /> <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: 6/22/2026 <br /> <br />TOPIC: IT Department Stabilization, Requesting Board Direction <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Direct Staff <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Zane Kinney, Bill Davis <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Zane Kinney, Interim Director of the IT Department, is seeking <br />to inform the Board of current projects that IT is currently working and would like to <br />receive Board direction on setting near-term goals and priorities. Our desire is to focus on <br />the most critical projects and to see them to completion as quickly as is reasonably <br />possible. <br /> <br />BRIEFING SUMMARY: <br />Recently, IT staff, across all divisions, has recognized that we: <br />• Are actively working on 50 projects <br />• Are blocked from working on 34 projects due to resource constraints, budget <br />constraints, or dependencies. <br />• Have 31 projects that are planned or scheduled as near-term initiatives. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Mr. Kinney, in coordination with each division, has determined that the following <br />projects are the highest priority: <br />Network/Systems <br />• Core switch rotation* <br />• M365 enhanced security and phishing resistant MFA* <br />• Server Migrations <br />• Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)* <br />Applications <br />• Public website replacement <br />• CAMAS feature replacement <br />• Laserfiche migration to new servers <br />• Application service account refresh
