BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />RESOLUTION NO.2026- <br />AUTHORIZING CHAIR SIGNATURE ON THE APPLICATION AUTHORIZATION <br />FORM FOR A RECREATION AND CONSERVATION OFFICE (RCO) FOR A <br />PLANNING FOR RECREATION ACCESS (PRA) GRANT FUNDING TO UPDATE <br />THE KITTITAS COUNTY PARKS, RECREATION, AND OPEN SPACE (PROS) PLAN <br />WHEREAS: Kittitas County is responsible for planning and supporting parks, recreation, and <br />open space facilities that serve residents and visitors throughout the County; and <br />WHEREAS: The County's Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Plan guides the <br />development, maintenance, and expansion of recreation facilities and services; <br />and <br />WHEREAS: The current PROS Plan requires periodic updates to reflect changing community <br />needs, growth patterns, tourism trends, and recreation demands; and <br />WHEREAS: The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) administers the <br />Planning for Recreation Access (PRA) grant program to assist local governments <br />in developing and updating park, recreation, and open space plans; and <br />WHEREAS: Kittitas County desires to apply for PRA grant funding to support a <br />comprehensive update to the PROS Plan, including public engagement, inventory <br />and analysis of recreation assets, identification of gaps in service, and <br />development of updated goals, policies, and implementation strategies; and <br />WHEREAS: If awarded, the anticipated funding amount is $125,000; and <br />WHEREAS: The County finds that updating the PROS Plan will strengthen long-term <br />recreation planning, improve access to outdoor recreation opportunities, and <br />support future capital development projects throughout the County; and <br />WHEREAS: It is in the best interest of the citizens of Kittitas County to pursue available grant <br />funding to assist in the completion of this planning effort. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners finds it in <br />the best interest of the public and does hereby authorize Chair signature on the grant application <br />authorization form identifying the authorized agents. <br />
