Old Heat CERB Feasibility Study | 37 <br />The Old Heat Commercialization <br />Center is designed as a multi-use <br />innovation facility that connects Kittitas <br />County’s physical and intellectual <br />assets to high-value state and national <br />industries. Space within the building is <br />intended to serve both a stand-alone <br />function and a role in the broader <br />system of regional competitiveness <br />that can be repurposed as technology <br />demands evolve. <br />The following table shows how <br />each facility component aligns with <br />Old Heat’s four objectives and the <br />outcomes it supports, see table to <br />right. <br />Together, these components exemplify <br />Objective 4. By linking Central <br />Washington’s physical and institutional <br />assets with the state’s major innovation <br />corridors, Old Heat provides a <br />replicable model for connecting rural <br />capabilities to metropolitan value <br />chains and strengthening Washington’s <br />overall competitiveness.Table 5: Objectives <br />OBJECTIVE PRIMARY ELEMENTS OBJECTIVE ILLUSTRATIVE OUTCOMES <br />1. Adaptive Reuse of State Resources Entire Old Heat facility, Community Showcase Hall <br />Re-purposing a historic state asset into productive economic infrastructure; visible model of sustainable public reinvestment. <br />4. Model for Statewide Replication of Strategic Eastern–Western WA Alignment <br />Integrated facility system linking CWU, County, and State partners <br />Demonstrates how rural regions connect to metropolitan innovation corridors; framework for replication across Washington.
