From: Jill Merwin
To: Jeremy Johnston
Subject: Easton Community Meeting Handout Response
Date: Friday,April 24,2026 4:05:26 PM
CAUTION: This email originated from outside the Kittitas County network. Do not click
links, open attachments, fulfill requests, or follow guidance unless you recognize the sender
and have verified the content is safe.
Hello Jeremy,
Thank you for providing a clear explanation of the subarea plan, its current status, and the
proposed revisions to move the plan forward at the Easton Community Meeting on April 16, 2026.
1 have reviewed the proposed revisions and respond as follows:
1. Accepted. I agree with removing the "one voice" reference. Easton residents and
community groups should be free to express a range of perspectives without implying a
single unified position.
2. Accepted. I support removing references to specific infrastructure upgrades from the goals
and policies at this time, with details deferred to a future, community-driven revitalization
planning process.
3. Rejected. I do not support removing the recommended action to consult with local septic
and water experts. Retaining this fact-finding step strengthens the plan by helping clarify
development limitations and address community questions, without committing the County
or the community to a sewer or LOSS system.
I believe it is vital to the strength and future of Easton that this plan be adopted as amended with
the revisions outlined above.
Thank you for your time, expertise, and commitment over the past two years. Your participation
has been truly invaluable.
Sincerely,
Jill Merwin
Easton Resident
