From: Cheryl Peterson
To: Jeremy Johnston
Cc: Laura Osiadacz
Subject: Easton Subarea Plan
Date: Thursday,April 16,2026 6:02:32 PM
CAUTION: This email originated from outside the Kittitas County network. Do not click
links, open attachments, fulfill requests, or follow guidance unless you recognize the sender
and have verified the content is safe.
Dear Mr. Johnston,
I am writing to submit my comments on the Easton Subarea Plan and to express my concerns
regarding the current drafting process and the level of community involvement.
As the owner of eight undeveloped commercial lots on Railroad Street, I have a significant
interest in Easton's future. These lots are encompassed in Figure 14 of the Easton Subarea
Plan as "Key Focus Areas around Railroad Street" and they are not insignificant. My primary
concerns with the plan as amended include:
Section 4.5 Goals and Policies; Specifically:
- EP 4.2, regarding the convening of property owners on Railroad Street to explore uses for
underutilized properties.
-EA 4.3: The creation of a vision board for a day-use area or recreation hub along Railroad
Street.
I believe the plan in its current form does not adequately represent the broader community. It
appears that a limited group has had a disproportionate influence, while many property owners
and stakeholders have not been meaningfully engaged. I would like it clearly noted that I do
not support "Building One Voice." A plan intended to reshape Easton over the next decade
must reflect a wide range of perspectives, rather than the interests of a small organized group.
I respectfully request that the County take additional steps to ensure broader outreach,
transparency, and participation before finalizing any decisions. Perhaps extending the
comment period, increasing direct communication with property owners, and providing
options for online participation in open house meetings.
Thank you for considering these concerns and for the opportunity to provide input.
Best regards,
Cheryl Y Peterson
Parcel#38163
