Let me assure you I have not
authorized anyone to speak for me in my behalf. The "Build One Voice" on page 12 section
1.6 needs to be removed. I do not want my voice to be represented by any group. I will voice
for myself how I feel about changes to our small town and reserve the right to work with our
elected commissioner and any relevant county officials at all times.
"Restroom Infrastructure For Visitors" under page 28, section 4.4; this needs to be removed as
well as from page 31 section 5.4. We do not need the cost for construction and expense to
maintain public restrooms so that Easton can act as a "Public Rest Area" for everyone passing
to and from Seattle to Eastern Washington. The port-a-potty's that are brought in for town
events are more than sufficient to take care of the needs for these events.
"Day Use Area/Recreation Hub" along Railroad Street, page 29, section 4.5. Again, there is no
need for such an area on Railroad Street. The cost to install and maintain this area would be
of no benefit to the residents in the City of Easton, however they would bear the cost.
Please keep in mind that creating both a recreation hub and public restrooms would attract
homeless to use that area as their new residence, creating additional cost and liability as well
as safety concerns. In addition, it would create a Thorofare on Railroad Street directly in front
of the school, creating safety concerns.
With regards to putting in sewer, street lights and sidewalks. Easton is a very small town and
the majority of us moved to this town for that reason. We like the feel the small town offers.
The installation of sewer, street lights and sidewalks will not enhance the small town feel or
provide any benefit for our small town. The installation of these things would only increase
the cost to the residents of our town, creating an undue hardship to cover the immense cost
involved with implementing these so-called improvements and the cost to maintain them. I
do not want to pay for a sewer system that will cost thousands of dollars per homeowner for
