added to this section to provide input from both sides to represent things more fairly? Please
add: No sewers, no restrooms, no sidewalks, no street lighting, and respect private property
owners' property rights, to the feedback section. My personal feedback to be added, also:
Infrastructure changes need to remain in line with the towns' rural character and the
community's rural way of life.
In closing, I do not mind having a subarea plan, if it is truly community led. But, if it can be
used as a blueprint by the few on ways to get grants for things that affect the many, possibly
against the will of the larger community, that is where my support abruptly ends.
I do not know how, but there should be some sort of checks and balances added to prevent
very small subsets of the community from having such massive impact on plans such as
these in the future. A large portion of the community was unaware of what was being put
into this plan (and I am certain many others are still unaware). It was said by the planners
there weren't more than 10 people at any of the planning meetings over the last two years,
until recently. This is a massive document that will last a decade -yet it was designed with only
10 community members' input up until the final weeks. I do understand that there was some
outreach to encourage others to participate, and I place no blame for this, but it simply wasn't
enough. It is vital that a certain percentage of community support be met before proposals
such as these move forward. Easton may be small, but there was nowhere near enough
participation no matter how we look at it.
If we can't get a high enough percentage of support for a document or idea, maybe it should
not move forward. I hope that if passed, future amendments to the plan require some
significant amount of community support to be considered for adoption. 100 People, even
50. More than just 10.
P.S. I also never got a mailer that was said to have been sent out. I am a property owner and
lifelong resident - but no mailer with any information on the subarea plan.
Thank you again for your time and attention to this matter. Your willingness to hear all sides
and present alternatives is greatly appreciated.
Please add this to the public record.
Franny Castrilli
Lifetime Easton Resident
