KITTITAS COUNTY
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

AGENDA STAFF REPORT

AGENDA DATE: May 5, 2026

ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to Adopt the Snoqualmie
Pass Comprehensive Safety Action Plan

BACKGROUND: The United States Department of Transportation (USDOT)
provided federal funding through the Safe Streets and
Roads for All (SS4A) grant program. Kittitas County was
successful with a planning grant request using this program
to create a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan for the
Snoqualmie Pass area. This plan was developed with input
and support of stakeholders including residents, business
owners, Washington State Department of Transportation
and other state and federal agencies.

Adopting the plan is required prior to further grant
submittals through the SS4A program to seek
implementation funding. The Snoqualmie Pass
Comprehensive Safety Action Plan has been developed
identifying prioritized locations for beneficial safety
improvements based on crash data, roadway investigations
and risk-based data analysis.

INTERACTION: Public Works.

RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution to Adopt the Snoqualmie Pass
Comprehensive Safety Action Plan.

HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works.

ATTACHMENTS: Resolution; Snoqualmie Pass Comprehensive Safety Action
Plan

LEAD STAFF: Josh Fredrickson, Public Works Director.
