Response 1.1: Please provide a description of your project/event.*
Response 1.2: Please provide us link to a brief video summary of you organization's event/project.*
The Roslyn Ronald Cle Elum Heritage Club seeks support to recognize and enhance cultural and heritage tourism in our
community. Our project highlights the unique history of Roslyn, Ronald, Cle Elum, and South Cle Elum through events, signage,
interpretive materials, digital marketing, video, and advertising.
Heritage tourism, as defined by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, invites travelers to experience the people, places,
and traditions that authentically represent the past and present. By building on this concept, we will create visitor experiences
that both honor our coal-mining and immigrant history and strengthen our local economy.
Our Track Record of Success
• Built and maintain the Coal Miners’ Memorial, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026 with planned site improvements and a
special celebration.
• Preserve Roslyn’s nationally significant historic cemeteries, reflecting the area’s rich immigrant history.
• Partner with the Coal Mines Trail Commission on new kiosks and interpretive signage to connect visitors to key heritage sites
in Cle Elum, Roslyn, and Ronald.
• Host cultural events and lectures and reprinted the book, From Old Country to Coal Country, to keep immigrant family stories
alive.
This project will:
• Promote cultural events that showcase our community’s diverse heritage.
• Enhance visitor experiences through new signage, storytelling, and events that bring history to life.
• Support local businesses by drawing more foot traffic to downtowns and cultural sites.
• Preserve and promote heritage through community partnerships, volunteer engagement, and public education.
• Improve signage and interpretation to enhance visitor engagement.
By investing in cultural tourism, we will preserve our heritage, celebrate our community’s identity, and support the economic
benefits of tourism for local businesses and residents.
2500 character limit
Note: You MUST be present at the Q&A meeting to qualify for funding.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VVy7-TE0HiMNWRqdjD0RPZQbIzOf3OQ7/view?usp=sharing
Response 1.3: List of Intended Use of Funds *
Note: This language will be related in the contract if awarded.
The CLTAC cannot approve funds not listed under RCW 67.28.1816.
