Response 1.1: Please provide a description of your project/event.*
Response 1.2: Please provide us link to a brief video summary of you organization's event/project.*
All Things Fun Sports! (ATFS!) is a community-focused organization that produces inclusive outdoor sporting events such as fun
runs, trail races, and themed walking/running events. Our mission is to make fitness fun, accessible, and tourism-friendly by
combining recreational sports with vibrant local culture.
This proposal requests support for the Palouse to Cascades Marathon+ Relay, a new event that brings together athletes,
families, and visitors for an outdoor adventure in Kittitas County. The event features approximately 300 participants and their
families traveling from across Washington and beyond, driving overnight lodging, restaurant, and retail activity.
2500 character limit
Note: You MUST be present at the Q&A meeting to qualify for funding.
https://https://youtu.be/uO9aiZjOD6g
Response 1.3: List of Intended Use of Funds *
Note: This language will be related in the contract if awarded.
The CLTAC cannot approve funds not listed under RCW 67.28.1816. However, the committee has the right to be more restrictive.
Online and Social Media advertising
Photography
Team Member Lodging
Equipment Rental
Race Security
Relay Team Race Related Supplies (e.g., Slap Bands. To a place fifty miles or more away from their place of residence or business for the day or staying overnight;
3. Or from another country or state outside of their place of residence or business.
You must provide the evidence utilized in determining your projections.
Response 2.1: Why would tourists travel to Kittitas County to attend your event/activity/facility?*
The Palouse to Cascades Marathon+ Relay will highlight Kittitas County's unique natural landscapes and small-town charm,
positioning the region as a year-round destination for outdoor recreation. Marketing will include cross-promotion of other county
attractions (e.g., hiking, local festivals, museums, breweries, and lodging).
Events of this relay style attract runners from all over the United States. Examples such as the Hood to Coast Relay, from Mt.
Hood to Seaside, Oregon, is known as the largest running/walking relay in the world with 12, 600 runners and 19, 000 total
participants. The Ragnar Relay for Mt. Rainier attracted 2,000 registrants competing as 269 teams. The Rainier to Ruston Relay
runs from Mt. Rainier to Point Ruston (Tacoma) and had over 1,200 participants. These similar style events attract thousands of
participants, support teams and friends and family. According to the article “The Rise of the Relay Marathon” in the Financial
Times, “Long-distance relay races around the world are surging in popularity. Established events, such as Hood to Coast in
Oregon, are seeing peaking demand from international teams, while newer races are on an upwards trajectory.” The article
continues saying, “Relays are the perfect Venn diagram of fitness trends: a mix of ultra-marathoning, trail running and the great
outdoors.”
What these events have in common and our goal for the Palouse to Cascades Marathon+ Relay is that they are time honored
traditions and continue to grow in popularity. Many of these relays encourage friendly competition among communities and
professional organizations. We strive to foster that same spirit.
2500 character limit
